What is it?
Oracle databases, including those that support Banner, are being migrated to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
Why are we doing it?
Cost control, plain and simple. Also, Oracle Cloud gives us more capabilities and improves redundancy.
How will I be impacted?
Users that connect to the Banner database directly to access data will need to use reporting tools to access Banner data. Direct network access to the Banner database will be limited once it is moved to the Oracle Cloud.
When will this be implemented?
This migration is expected to be complete by the end of 2022.
What do I need to do?
Those currently using direct/ODBC connections to the Banner database will need to re-engineer business processes to use reporting platforms or other methods to access Banner data. Functional areas need to prepare for testing as Banner environments are migrated to the cloud.
